The Flower That Pops — Literally
Platycodon grandiflorus, the Balloon Flower, is named for its puffy, balloon-shaped buds that dramatically pop open into star-shaped blue-purple blooms. A long-lived, low-maintenance perennial, it returns reliably year after year and puts on a show from midsummer into fall — long after many perennials have finished.
Growing Conditions
- Light: Full sun to part shade
- Hardiness zones: 3–9
- Mature height: ~24 inches
- Bloom time: Midsummer – fall
- Attracts: Bees and butterflies
- Great for cut flowers
What You'll Receive
Well-rooted plants shipped in 2.5" or 3.25" pots (select your size above). The mature plants shown in our photos are significantly larger than what ships — that’s your plant’s future. Some plants may flower in the pot; most bloom when the season is right.
Shipping Restrictions
We cannot ship to: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Washington, Oregon, or Mississippi.
We also cannot ship when temperatures at your location are below 40°F or above 85°F. If your area is near the upper range, please be available to receive and unpack your order promptly.
Our Guarantee
Every plant is guaranteed to arrive healthy. If something looks off upon delivery, message us with a photo — all plants are insured for transit issues. Once a healthy plant is in your hands, we’re happy to answer care questions, though we can’t be responsible for post-delivery care.
