Hardy Banana (Musa Basjoo)

Musa Basjoo, commonly known as Japanese Banana or Hardy Banana, is a cold-hardy ornamental banana plant prized for its large, tropical foliage and ability to withstand colder climates down to zone 4.

Growth Characteristics: Musa Basjoo is a fast-growing, herbaceous perennial that can reach heights of 6 to 15 feet (1.8 to 4.5 meters) and bears large, paddle-shaped leaves that can be up to 6 feet long. The plant has a pseudo-stem formed by the tightly packed leaf bases .



These bananas will not produce bananas in cold climates.

Can not ship to Alabama, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Washington, Oregon, or Mississippi.


Cannot ship to locations below 50°F or above 85°F.


Plants will be delivered in the listed or selected pot sizes. The mature plants shown in the pictures are much larger than the 2.5"-3.5" pots in which we ship plants. Some plants will flower in these pots, but most do not. Plants bloom when they naturally do so during their natural flowering period. Most flowers do not bloom year-round.


Plants are guaranteed to be healthy upon delivery. If you have any questions or issues with the plant upon delivery, please message us and include a photo so we can address it. Shipment can sometimes cause issues outside of anyone’s control, but we insure all plants against these problems. After a healthy plant is delivered, we are happy to answer questions, but we cannot be responsible for the care the plant receives.
