A Native Shrub with Four-Season Interest

Hydrangea quercifolia, the Oakleaf Hydrangea, is one of the most beautiful native shrubs in the southeastern US — and one of the most versatile. In early summer it produces large, cone-shaped clusters of white flowers that gradually blush pink as the season progresses. The distinctive oak-shaped leaves turn rich burgundy-red in fall, and the exfoliating cinnamon-brown bark provides winter interest. A true four-season performer.
