Rosa di Veneto is one of the most beautiful radicchios out there; yes, it is pink. The pink color develops late (late November for us in Maryland) in the center part of the radicchio plant.
Plants start out as green plants - see picture. We really are sending the correct plants! As the cool weather sets in, radicchio takes on its beautiful color.
Plants should be planted once the hottest part of summer has passed. For us in zone 7b, Maryland, this is the last week of August or the first week of September.
Plants can be brought inside and forced in cooler regions (or any region) before the very cold sets in. In our zone 7b, all radicchio varieties overwinter without winter protection; some outer leaves may look bad in January, but they regrow in February. Trevisio varieties star in the fall/early winter, Vento varieties are great in the fall, Winter, and early spring, and Castelfranco is a star in late winter/very, very early spring, producing tender leaves that can be confused with lettuce.

Plants will be delivered in the pot sizes listed/selected. The mature plants shown in the pictures are significantly larger than the 2.5"-3.5" pots in which we ship plants. Some plants will flower in these pots, but most do not. Plants flower when they naturally flower for the period they naturally flower. Most flowers do not bloom year-round.
Plants are guaranteed to be healthy upon delivery. If you have a question or issue with the plant upon delivery, please message us and include a photo so we can address it. Things happen during shipments that no one can control, but we insure all plants for these issues. After a healthy plant is delivered, we are happy to answer questions, but we cannot be held responsible for the care a plant receives.
