Scientific name: Salvia roemeriana 'Arriba'
A Native Sage with Blooms Hummingbirds Love
Salvia Roemeriana 'Arriba' (also known as Hot Trumpets, Prairie Fire, or Red Dwarf Sage) is a compact native sage from the American Southwest that produces vivid red tubular flowers beloved by hummingbirds and butterflies. It blooms over an exceptionally long season — spring through fall — making it one of the most reliable nectar sources in the garden.
Unlike many salvias, Arriba stays compact at just 1 foot tall and wide, making it ideal for containers, front-of-border plantings, and small gardens. Wildlife tend not to browse. It is drought tolerant once established.
