Steep Hill Garden White Alba Columbine - Native Perennial, Pollinator-Friendly, Zones 3-9
Pure White Spring Blooms for Shade Gardens
White Alba Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris 'Alba') is a graceful native-style perennial that brings pure white, nodding blooms to the spring garden. The delicate spurred flowers appear in mid-spring and are a favorite of hummingbirds, bumblebees, and other long-tongued pollinators. Cut stems make beautiful, airy spring bouquets.
Plants thrive in part shade — ideal under deciduous trees, along woodland edges, or in shaded borders where few other flowering perennials perform. In cooler summer climates, they can handle more sun. Once established, Columbine self-seeds gently, naturalizing over time without becoming invasive.
