Blackberry Lily (Belamcanda chinensis, also known as Leopard Flower or Iris domestica) is a unique and underused perennial that earns its place in the garden across three seasons. In mid-to-late summer, it produces cheerful orange flowers speckled with red spots — like a leopard's coat. After flowering, the seed pods split open to reveal clusters of shiny black seeds that look exactly like blackberries, creating striking ornamental interest well into fall.

Despite its name, Blackberry Lily is actually a member of the iris family, with flat, fan-shaped foliage similar to bearded iris. It's easy to grow, long-lived, and makes excellent cut flowers at every stage — from bud to seed head.
