Woodland Poppy (Celandine Poppy)

Native to the eastern and midwestern United States
Seeds are very fresh from the previous growing season. Woodland Poppy thrives in a woodland setting. Blooms mid–late April in the mid-Atlantic region. Plants will die back in the summer after the seed pods open and spread their seeds.
These woodland beauties respond well to cultivation when the soil is rich in organic matter and the plants receive ample shade. Many gardeners use woodland plants as a colorful shady woodland border, as it is one of the easiest spring woodland plants to grow. The best way to grow woodland poppies is by seed.
Germination Notes
Seeds require cold stratification to germinate. The easiest method is to sow seeds outside soon after they are mature and let nature do its work — provide plenty of rich compost and keep the soil evenly moist. Seeds will germinate in spring but not bloom until the second season.
To stratify indoors: mix seeds with sterile media and place in a sealed plastic bag in a warm location (~80°F) for 60–90 days, then move to the refrigerator for an additional 60–90 days, then plant. Very easy to grow organically.
